Dr. Lyndon Cooper D.D.S., Ph.D. is the Associate Dean for Research and Head of the Department of Oral Biology at the University of Illinois School of Dentistry, Chicago. He previously served as the Stallings Distinguished Professor of Dentistry, Chairperson and Director of Graduate Prosthodontics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. There, he led Prosthodontists in the innovative use of digital technology, promoted the careful use of dental implants in tooth replacement, and fostered a contemporary research environment.
Additional Honors and Distinctions
Dr. Cooper is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and served as the 2010 President of the American College of Prosthodontists. Until 2018, he served as the Chair of the American College of Prosthodontists Education Foundation. Dr. Cooper received the ACP’s 2004 Clinician/Researcher Award, the IADR’s 2009 Distinguished Scientist Award for Prosthodontics and Implantology, and the 2016 Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontists’ Schweitzer Award for Research. He most recently received the IADR/AO Osseointegration Innovation in Implant Sciences Award. His research work is represented in over 150 peer-reviewed publications and 300 presentations.
Dr. Cooper is a nationally and internationally renowned speaker, providing presentations regarding both his research and clinical Prosthodontics topics. In his clinical practice, Dr. Cooper’s broad experience is focused on the replacement of missing teeth and complex dental reconstruction involving both teeth and implants, with a particular focus on esthetics.
