Dr. Brian S. Vence - DDS

Dr. Vence maintains a private practice in West Dundee, Illinois, with a special interest in comprehensive esthetic and restorative dentistry. He graduated with a degree in honors biology in 1981 from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. He received his dental degree in 1985 from the University of Illinois School of Dentistry at the Medical Center in Chicago. He completed a hospital residency at the VA Wadsworth-UCLA in 1986 and a mini-residency in temporomandibular joint disorders.

Dr. Vence founded the Chicago Academy of Interdisciplinary Dentofacial Therapy in 1992, a study club designed to define and promote excellence in dentistry. He has had manuscripts published in Quintessence of Dental Technology, Practical Periodontics and Aesthetic Dentistry and The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry and Compendium. He is an editor in fixed prosthodontics for Practical Procedures and Aesthetic Dentistry. He is a member of the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry, the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, the International College of Dentists and the American College of Dentists.

As a patient, you are invited to tap into Dr. Vence’s expertise, which first began in his father's dental lab prior to attending dental school and completing a post-graduate hospital residency at VA Wadsworth and UCLA. Dr. Vence spends more than 150 hours a year on continuing education, has a wealth of knowledge in dental literature, gives presentations to dental audiences across the country and has more than 25 years of clinical experience.

Kim Magsamen - Office Manager

Kim chose the field of dentistry as a career more than 30 years ago because of her passion for interacting with people and helping them achieve a healthy and confident smile. She has been part of Dr. Vence’s team as office manager and treatment coordinator since 2001. Her experience and knowledge of dentistry, insurance, flex accounts and payment plan options assists our patients in achieving their personalized treatment plan goals. During her free time, Kim enjoys reading, gardening and refinishing wood.

Eva Balawander, RDH - Dental Hygiene

Enthusiastic, gentle and caring, Eva has been a part of Dr. Vence's dental team since 1998. She earned a Dental Hygiene degree from Harper College in Palatine, Ill. Also, she is a graduate of the Dental Laboratory Technology School in Warsaw Poland as well from Triton College in Illinois. She is certified in administration of local anesthetic and nitrous oxide conscious sedation. Since 2004 she has been a member of the Implement Dental Hygiene Study Club. She loves to travel, enjoys jogging in the morning, cooking with homegrown herbs and taking long walks with her dog, Lila.

Annette Cardenas - Clinical Assistant

Annette has 15 years of hands-on dental experience in Orthodontics, Full Mouth Reconstruction, Endodontics, and a variety of Oral Surgical Procedures as well as General Dentistry. She has shared eight of these years with Dr. Vence and his team. She is bilingual, speaking both English and Spanish, and is proficient in both speaking and reading in Spanish. Working side-by-side with Dr. Vence, Annette enjoys serving our patients as well as developing relationships with them. She gains a sense of fulfillment when patients reach optimum oral health.

During her free time, Annette enjoys spending time with her husband, her two lovely daughters, Jasmine and Alexia, and their two dogs. She also enjoys singing and serving in her community of volunteers as well as her church. She also enjoys biking, baking and dancing.
