Telephone Screening
Our treatment plan grows out of your desire and need to rehabilitate your
mouth. We will first determine if our practice could be helpful to you.
Initial
Consultation
We will explore how we can work together to achieve your goals. We will
create a context for your dentistry so we can plan essential and meaningful
treatment. We will determine the difficulty of your case and classify
your situation as Patient Type I, II, III, or IV, in order to assign the
appropriate diagnostic services.
Diagnostic
Services
We will perform a clinical evaluation, which consists of a new patient
examination, radiographs, and diagnostic photographs. We may also set
up appointments to obtain diagnostic casts, jaw records, and mount the
diagnostic casts to perform a functional analysis. A functional analysis
helps us evaluate how your teeth come together when you bite.
Treatment
Planning Session
Together with you, we will determine where you are with your current oral
health through a co-discovery process and review the diagnostic findings.
We assess four areas of oral health: esthetics,
function,
structural
integrity of the teeth, and the biologic
health of the gums and pulps of your teeth. We will discuss
what we are seeing in these four areas, what we consider ideal, and what
we think will likely happen if you don't act. Most importantly, we will
determine what you would like to do for yourself to become healthier.
Obtaining
a Future of Choice
Together we will discover an essential and meaningful treatment to resolve
your diagnostic findings. We will help connect the emerging meaning derived
from your consultation to the techniques necessary to attain your preferred
future. We will also help you understand what your choice means in terms
of time, money, energy, and outcome.
Action
Plan
We will explicitly state the diagnostic findings and your preferred future
in terms of our shared purpose (meaning + technique). We will plan the
treatment in phases, schedule appointments and discuss financial arrangements.
Active
Treatment
We feel it is important for us to be relaxed, focused, and not busy when
we treat you. So we will reserve ample time in the schedule for treatment.
It is important for you to only reserve time in your schedule if you are
sure of your availability. We do not overbook to protect ourselves from
no-shows. Since we see a few patients for longer periods of time, it is
important to us that we do not have last-minute cancellations.
Preferred
Outcome
Our goal is to provide you with a stable, healthy, esthetic mouth.
Maintenance
To protect your restorations, we will recommend an occlusal splint or
night guard as well as a continuing care program.
Referrals
We appreciate referrals of people you feel would benefit from our services.
